Terrible Truths About Downlines

Many people think that by building big downlines in MLM business opportunities their success at earning money online is assured. But there is a bit more to building downlines than simply getting vast numbers of people to sign up under you.

You have probably seen mentioned the low percentage of people who are successful at  making money from an internet business. The common wisdom is that 95% fail to make any money. I suspect the real failure rate is higher than that, because standards of competition keep rising all the time. But new opportunities arise every day, so lets say the success rate is not 5% but instead 4%.

Lets look at a possible scenario...

We´ve used every traffic generation and marketing trick we can find, and painstakingly built a downline of (say) 1000 people in a particular biz-op.

What can we predict?... Well, our assumption is that only 4% of our sign-ups will be successful. Its important to remember that this 4% is just our educated guess. We could be wrong. It might be better or worse, we don´t really know.

As well, its only an average. Some biz-ops might have an 12% success rate while others might be zero. But hopefully the biz-ops you and I are promoting are not among the dead turkeys.

So, what's going to happen?  960 of our sign-ups will ´drop-out´ if our assumptions reflect reality!

Some will move on to some other hot opportunity, continuing their fruitless search for instant wealth, some will be free-loaders, hoping to piggy-back on the effort of other people.

Whatever the reason, it is likely that a significant number of the members in the 1st level of your painfully acquired downline will not achieve anything at all.

And of course, the remaining active members in your 1st level are likely to have the same sort of outcome as you with their 1st level (which is your 2nd level).

I call this ´drop-out´, downline attrition.
